Check Cashing Shop Set On Fire During Robbery Attempt

DETROIT (AP) — Police are seeking a man who poured a flammable liquid into a money tray beneath a clear, plastic barrier window and started a fire during a robbery attempt at a Detroit check cashing business.

Fox 2’s Ronnie Dahl has the story from Detroit, click on the video player to watch.

Police say the man walked into the office about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and told a clerk to give him cash. He ignited the liquid and walked out after the clerk picked up a phone to summon help.

No injuries were reported.

The first-floor business and apartments on the second floor were damaged by fire. CALABRESE INC. was contacted to secure the building.

CALABRESE INC. was called in by a bank that took possession of a store … while arriving on the scene, CALABRESE INC. found a Moving Truck loading up the store … CALABRESE INC. got there just in time to show proper forms/paperwork and had them cease activity so the site could be winterized, cleaned out and boarded up. Just one of the many different things CALABRESE INC. has learned to cope with everyday on the job.

Recently, CALABRESE INC. found itself working on a 3rd Generation family owned home with a tragic story attached. One of the family members was a victim of homicide and the property had to be secured until family decisions were made about the fate of the home. This family is in our prayers and we hope only the best for them.

This is a service we provide for a local property management company. we arrived early the day the tenet was getting evicted and not only did we board all windows and doors but we all so removed all the windows and entry doors, furnace and hot water heater for safe storage
